| CIGNA Behavioral Health (CBH) is located separately from CIGNA Health Care. Although they work closely together, CIGNA Behavioral Health has it's own website, claims processing services, and phone numbers.
1. How do I access my mental health and substance abuse benefits?
Call the CIGNA Behavioral Health Intake Department at 1 800 554-6931 to get a referral to a provider in your area who can help you with your concerns. At the same time, you will be given authorization for your treatment.
Note: Participants in the SafetyNet plan should call the number on their insurance card.
2. How do I find a provider who can help me deal with my concerns?
Let CIGNA Behavioral Health help you find the right provider. CBH has a large network of providers with a wide range of specialties. Their highly trained intake staff can assist you in locating a provider near your home or work who has the skills and specialists to meet your needs. A full provider listing is also available online at www.cignabehavioral.com.
3. What if I get a referral, but am not comfortable with the provider after the first visit?
Finding the right provider is key to a successful and therapeutic relationship. CGH's intake staff will be happy to assist you with additional referrals or authorizations. Just call 1 800 554-6931.
4. What's the difference between seeing an in-network provider and seeing an out-of-network provider?
Seeing a provider who participates in CGH's network means you will pay less and have no paperwork for authorized services. Plus, the provider is licensed, experienced, and meets CBH's rigorous quality standards.
5. What do I do in an emergency situation, when I need to see a provider right away or need to go into a treatment program or a hospital?
If you need emergency services, notify CIGNA Behavioral Health first at 1 800 554-6931. If you can't you (or a family member) will need to call us by the end of the next business day in order to be covered at the higher, in-network level. All coverage is subject to medical necessity. Do call CBH before you enter a treatment program or go into a hospital. All inpatient care needs to be pre-authorized in order to receive maximum coverage. In case of an emergency inpatient admission, notification should be received within 48 hours.
6. Where can I find information about my mental health and substance abuse benefits?
Coverage levels will depend on which medical plan you have enrolled in. For questions about coverage, call the CIGNA Behavioral Health Customer Service Department at 1 800 926-2273. They can help explain your coverage, deductibles, co-pays, and assist you in accessing the kind of care you need.
7. Where should I call if I have questions about how the program works or have claims concerns?
If you have claims concerns or questions about how the program works, please call CBH Customer Service at 1 800 926-2273, or go to www.cignabehavioral.com.
8. Where should I mail my behavioral health claims?
If you see an in-network provider, the provider will send in the claims to CIGNA Behavioral Care for you.
If you receive services from an out-of-network provider, please send the claim to:
