Merit Bonus Policy
The Compensation Unit monitors the granting of bonuses for exceptional performance by Exempt and Classified Executive Branch employees. Merit bonus procedures are broadly defined in the State Policies and Procedures Manual, Section 7, # 7.1 - Employee Recognition & Merit Bonus Policy, and # 7.2 - Merit Award Process for Certain Exempt Employees. In addition, the various Agencies, Departments, and Boards may develop their own internal merit policies for the granting of awards, as long as the policy supports the intent of the Statewide policy and is not in conflict with the Statewide policy guidelines or the current labor agreement.

In addition, the Compensation Unit oversees a variety of Exempt Pay Plans that contain provisions and guidelines for the granting of merit awards for Exempt employees not included in Policies # 7.1 and 7.2.

See Policy and Procedures Manual, Section 7, # 7.1 and #7.2 for further information or contact the Compensation Unit.
