WHAT IS THE VERMONT PUBLIC MANAGER PROGRAM (VPM)?
VPM provides a core learning experience for current and emerging leaders
in state government. Designed to be both intellectually challenging and
practical, the program provides a unique opportunity for managers
and leaders from across state government to learn together about their common
challenges and strategies for success.
WHO IS VPM FOR?
We seek applications from people in positions with direct management responsibilities or organization-wide impact. Managerial designation is not required. Training is designed for the intermediate and advanced level learner.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
VPM consists of approximately 20-24 classroom days and four to six hours
a month of independent work over two years. In addition, consultation
projects require a substantial investment of time during the final year of the
program.
APPLICATIONS: The next cycle of VPM will begin in April 2008. Applications for the 2008 class are now available on this website, or from The Summit: Center for State Employee Development office at 241-1114. Applications are due no later than Monday, March 17.

(MS Word format). Send signed applications to Rose Gowdey at the Summit Center, Osgood Building, 103 S. Main St, Waterbury VT, 05671. Email Submissions cannot be accepted.
ACCEPTANCE: The VPM program seeks a diverse group of current and
emerging leaders from a cross-section of state departments. We often receive
more applications than we have positions available. Therefore, acceptance
is not guaranteed, and a screening process is used. Individuals
with current management responsibilities are given priority. We also recommend that applicants who are supervisors have prior training in supervisory skills. See The Summit's roster of open enrollment courses and the Supervisor Development Program.
