After You Have Been Offered a Position and Before You Start Work
After you have been offered employment you may request reasonable accommodations to complete the essential functions of your new job. The request for accommodations form is also included in this section. If you need assistance with the form, you may discuss this with your new supervisor or personnel officer.
Job Accommodations
Once you are employed by the State of Vermont, you may request reasonable accommodations to do your job. This might be a modification or adjustment to the work environment or to the way the job is usually performed. Modifications to the working environment or job duties may be made to allow you to do the "essential functions" - the important parts of the job - and allow you to enjoy the same benefits as other employees in similar positions. Types of accommodations that might be made are making facilities accessible, job restructuring, modified work schedule, adaptive equipment or devices, or making training material accessible. To reference the full version of the State of Vermont policies regarding reasonable accommodation visit the Workforce Diversity & Equity section of this web site. The request for accommodations form is also included in this section. If you need assistance with the form, you may discuss this with your supervisor or other personnel officer. Your department or agency will review your request and may forward it to the Reasonable Accommodation Committee for an advisory opinion. If you are dissatisfied with the response to your request, there is an appeals process.
