| Development Opportunities |
The Department of Human Resources operates the Cyprian Learning Center in the Waterbury Office Complex. The Learning Center offers courses in professional development, supervision and leadership, customer service, and understanding state government. A calendar and descriptions of courses and a registration form are provided on-line: Employee Training.
The Cyprian Center is also the site of the Supervisor’s Development Program (SDP) and the Vermont Public Manager Program (VPM).
Career advising, also available at the CLC, provides one-on-one, confidential career assistance. Career advising sessions are tailored to the individual and can involve assistance with resume writing or interviewing skills; information about state jobs and the application process; assistance with Tuition Reimbursement and writing a career plan; or an in-depth career planning process. Career Fitness, a three-day career planning course is offered annually.

Find out what training is offered in your department by speaking with your supervisor or personnel officer. If your department uses Individual Development Plans (IDPs), consider the advantages of being an active participant in this process. The IDP provides a structure for your development including providing a focus, targeted activities, and regular follow-up.
