Personnel Policy 3.0

Harassment
The State of Vermont is committed to a working environment free of discrimination and harassment, in which all employees are treated with dignity and respect. Harassment includes racial or ethnic slurs and other verbal, visual, or physical abuse relating to a person’s race, color, religion, creed, ancestry, sex, marital status, age, national origin, sexual orientation or disability. Labor Contract Article 5

Sexual Harassment
The State of Vermont prohibits the harassment of anyone on the basis of gender. Sexual harassment violates an individual’s basic civil rights, undermines the integrity of the work place, and adversely affects workers and clients alike. All employees, including but not limited to staff, supervisors, managers, and appointing authorities, are expected to comply with this policy and take appropriate measures to ensure that sexual harassment does not occur. In addition, every manager and supervisor within the State of Vermont is responsible for providing a work place free from sexual harassment.
Personnel Policy 3.1

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Reasonable Accommodation
The State of Vermont endorses the mandate of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) that prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of disability. It is the State’s policy to provide reasonable accommodation to the known physical or mental limitations of an otherwise qualified employee or applicant with a disability, unless such an accommodation would create an undue hardship. The obligation to make reasonable accommodation applies to all aspects of employment, including the application process.
