Congratulations! You have joined an organization that serves thousands of Vermonters everyday in countless ways. The State of Vermont is comprised of people who care. We care about how effectively we perform our work, the public we serve, and the quality of life we protect. The citizens of Vermont are our valued customers.
This website provides an overview of what it means to be an employee in the State of Vermont. It is intended to complement and reinforce the agency or department orientation that you receive at your worksite.
The State of Vermont New Employee Orientation (NEO) site is divided into four sections:
- Welcome to Working for the State of Vermont,
- Understanding Your Benefits as a State Employee,
- Creating a Healthy Work Environment, and
- Taking Charge of Your Career.
Within each section, several topics are summarized to facilitate your successful integration into the State of Vermont workforce. The topics cover key aspects of state employment, but only briefly. Additional information for most topics can be obtained by clicking on the highlighted link provided. When you are ready to return to the NEO site, click on the back button (at the upper-left-hand side of your screen) if it is highlighted or close the window (generally a PDF file or site outside of vermontpersonnel.org). The site is designed so that you can review sections in any order, as well as topics within sections. And you can return to this site as needed for review.
