| Promotional Opportunities |
Once you have completed your original probation, you are eligible to apply for state or agency-only promotional positions. Of course, you can apply for any other vacant positions for which you qualify (meet the minimum qualifications). If hired in the new position, you will receive the salary increase specified by the current labor contract, but not less than step two of the new pay grade. To apply for positions posted through the Department of Human Resources, complete the online application, through the State Employee Center: State Employee Center. For some department and agency-only openings, you may apply directly to your personnel office.
If the duties of your position have changed significantly, your position can be reviewed to determine its appropriate classification. Sometimes departments have existing positions reclassified into higher levels without going through a formal recruitment process. If your position is part of a career ladder or occupational series, you may be promoted after successful completion of requirements. For more information: Classification.
