Dear State Employee,

State employees protect residents and visitors; enhance services for children and the elderly; support innovative education programs; actively encourage agriculture and economic expansion; maintain our infrastructure; assist those in need of housing and employment; promote health and wellness; and safeguard our beautiful natural environment—among many other services. Simply put, the State of Vermont would not be the national leader it is without our state employees.
My personal objectives for State of Vermont employees include:

Congratulations! And welcome to Vermont State Government.
State service is uniquely satisfying and I believe each employee brings distinct talents to his or her job. Since beginning my public service career twenty years ago, I have had the good fortune of working in several non-management and management roles in State government. Throughout that time I have been consistently amazed at the outstanding quality of skills and depth of experience brought to the workplace by individuals who choose to serve their fellow Vermonters as State employees.
As a new State Employee you join a team of talented professionals dedicated to serving our Vermont communities and preserving our Vermont way of life. Please thoroughly review the following orientation materials to become familiar with the benefits and responsibilities of your new position.
I also encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Human Resources staff in your agency or department. They will be an excellent resource for you throughout your career in State government.
